Renamed account not updating active directory
Their "primary email address" does reflect the change. I know I can use Powershell and accomplish the task, but that does not "fix" the underlying problem of the usernames not updating via the Microsoft tool like it is suppose to. Smith became an automatic alias, but the user's "username" in Office365 and Azure AD is still John. Now being an automation nut, and knowing some of my users will be renamed due to fat fingered names in the data that creates the user accounts (already automated and working), I want to get this fixed.Basically connect to Azure AD using Power Shell then…It has been 24hrs since I implemented the change, and none of the users azure usernames have been updated. My Google Cloud directory sync is working properly. I am running the latest version of Microsoft Azure Active Directory Connect on the server. Running the powershell command to ensure the sync from the local UPN should be applied to the Azure UPN/username.Just opening a user's properties and changing things doesn't cover it all.
The only way to change it is by using Windows Azure Active Directory Module for Windows Power Shell.
For example, here's what Mary Smith's user account looks like in Active Directory: Mary has been logging in as contoso\mary.smith ever since she got married and her account was changed.
